Aafreen is a very intelligent and compassionate 16 year old girl, currently studying in S5 in George Watson College. She has consistently performed exceptionally well in academics throughout in primary and secondary school. She is aspiring for a place in medicine at university when she finishes school next year. She always had interest in activities beyond academics as well; she is integral part of the drama crew in the school that stages some of the highest standard of drama across all schools in Edinburgh. She has completed Silver level certification for Duke of Edinburgh award. She is a regular volunteer to the local care home in the Colinton area. She donated her long hair to the little princess trust to make wigs for cancer patients. In our recent family holiday to India, she spent some quality time with underprivileged children and women in the slums of Chennai, teaching computer skills to them. She also interacted and motivated women undergoing vocational training under iLead programme. She was always interested in sports from very early age. She achieved good success in Swimming and Tennis in the early years. She started playing competitive badminton at club level when she was 11 yrs old. In last 4 years, she has won many trophies for the school and clubs, including national title in under 14 Scottish schools competition for 2 consecutive years in different categories. She is part of Elite squad in the Edinburgh Badminton Academy.
