My name is Sujata Dhamansker. I started my career at the age of 18 to help my family financially. I did various jobs in Mumbai, but I soon realised that the work I was doing did not bring me happiness. Then in 1989 I decided to work in the beauty industry. This was where my passion began. This passion continued when I moved to the UK in 2002 and still continues till this day.
I am proud to be the owner of Indian Beauty which is my salon in this gorgeous city of Edinburgh. I have been in this industry for 29 years. I love my job, because I get to make every person that comes into my salon feel great about themselves. I love meeting new people and helping them achieve their beauty goals and many of my clients affectionately address me as the Threading Queen of Edinburgh. I continuously strive to improve my skills and stay ahead in the game and take many advanced training courses (Eyelash extension, Nail extension, HD Brows and make up) in the UK for beauty therapy. A portrait of mine was exhibited along with other portraits of other prominent South Asians at the Living Memory Association, Ocean Terminal in August 2018.
I also like to get involved in the community. I started helping in the Hindu Mandir and Cultural Centre then I was an active committee member for 10 years. The past two years I have stepped down from the committee to give the opportunity to newcomers of the community. I am happy to help occasionally when the need arises. I am looking forward to many years of working in beauty and being a part of the community.
