After a brief venture in America where I studied, I moved to Edinburgh with my wife in 1996 in the search of opportunity. Over the course of a few years, I dipped my toes into a plethora of varied careers from office-bound jobs to sales and everything in between; however, nothing quite clicked and so came about the decision to open up a Cafe in Edinburgh Park: NAIHAS – named so after my only daughter. The move was risky with many concerned about my idea to start a business from scratch in an area with nothing around it other than some offices. But I persevered with my family and 17 years later, NAIHAS has garnered acclaim and a reputation across the city for its delicious Halal products, unequivocal coffee craft and specialty crepes and for being a one-of-a-kind idea that brings a flair of Asian culture to a Western tradition through fillings such as Madras and Tikka and the likes of Desi Breakfasts and even halal Scottish breakfasts; not to mention, the business has since expanded with other branches – our current location being St Johns Road, in Corstorphine. We began on the desire to share our love for coffee with the world, wanting to stand out for our individuality and identity from these bigger chains with our passion and craft and we are proud of the fact that we believe we have accomplished exactly that.
