Mrs Nasim Azad has been involved in the community field since 2006, where she co founded a voluntary group called Beyond the Veil, through this, clear and accurate information was provided on Islam and especially women, this work took place at schools, Churches, stalls or speaking at conferences be it on the hijab/Islamic dress, divorce, forced marriage or domestic/sexual abuse and much more. She is Co convenor of the Edinburgh Interfaith Association, and works very closely with all Masjids in Edinburgh and some further afield. She supports charities be it organising a sponsored walk or volunteering her spare time at stalls and much more. She is a Committee member of the Scottish Mosques for All group, which is working with Masjids across Scotland to increase the participation and roles of women in Masjids inshallah. Her heartfelt vision is that every one in Edinburgh, be they Asian or not, take the initiative to do a great deed everyday which will have positive impact on us, our society and most of all our children, who are our greatest achievements! She was recently invited to speak on BBC Radio Scotland on “the role of faith in charity”. Mrs Azad is married and has 3 grown children. In her “spare time” she enjoys walking, watching any crime shows and spending time with her family, who all alhamdollilah live in Edinburgh.
